bon voyage

here's a few photos of what's been occurring recently. mainly just a combination of partying, shopping, working (at the beach, not bad) and drinking! and also decorating for mine and kathryn's leaving party which is tomorrow! it's olympic themed so there's going to be a lot of hilarious looking people, myself included, I can't wait!

other than that it's literally like six weeks and two days till we leave wahhh?! I still have no rucksack and no common sense but I can't bloody wait!

going to try get the travelling blog up and running ASAP. onelovexx

VISA

i need a visa, but instead i am spending my money on hair appointments, cds and clothes that will not be appropriate in thailand or denver's winter. oh well. it's so exciting i might invest in some kind of countdown system on here so i can count down the days!

december 2011 round up

All that glitters
Metallics are the colour of the season. Whether it’s on your nails, your Christmas tree or new dress, so long as it’s sparkly and shiny then it’s all you should be seen in this December. Take note from Nicola Roberts if you want to work the festive look, with this Gold Foil Print Jumper, £42 from Miss Selfridge. Combining a tinselly effect with another seasonal favourite - knitwear. Or if you’re not feeling quite so brave, how about adding a bit of stardust to your life with these fabulous shimmering nail polishes?  Try Metallic Nails in Eyes of Steel or Stardust, £6 from Topshop or for a brighter bargain, Blue Glitter 297, £2.99 from Barry M.

Ice, ice baby
It’s that time of year again when its the perfect opportunity to wrap up super warm and take to the ice-rink. Skating season is truly upon us. A chance to show off your blade skills, but also that new fur coat you’ve been dying to wear! (Not appreciating the ‘mild winter’). For that truly festive feeling head to Brighton’s Royal Pavillion Real Ice Rink and Restaruant which opened its twinkly gates on 12 November until 22 January. A rink set in the heart of Brighton that has space for 250 skaters at a time. Whether your moves are Torvill-esque or ‘barely making it round once’, everyone can congregate in the safety of the rustic bar and enjoy a mulled wine, or five. Royal Pavilion Ice Rink tickets cost from £10 for adults and £7 for children under 12 and the one-hour skate times run from 10am to 10.15pm daily, on sale online at www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling 0844 847 2352.

Three’s a crowd
Love to hate it, or hate to love it, no one can deny that they haven’t caught a glimpse of the X Factor this year. And the majority of us will be looking forward to the final on Sunday 11 December - even if it is just to say ‘good riddance’ to the programme for another year. The final three have been narrowed down to Marcus Collins (wasn’t he in Diva Fever the year before?) Amelia Lily (the one who originally got booted off in week one) and Little Mix (the bookies favourites). This year the final is being held at Wembley Arena with 10,000 people there to watch the finalists perform, along with the likes of Coldplay, Michael Buble and former contestants Leona Lewis, JLS and One Direction. Set to be an action packed evening and easy viewing, even Coldplay’s Chris Martin said: “We’re all big X Factor fans so we’re very excited to play live on the show.” Really? We’ll see...
Born to die
Is the album title of the latest female singer to come out of America – Lana Del Rey. The 24-year-old’s popularity has spurred from her YouTube hit ‘Videogames’ – a sinister record that somehow seems to have cast a spell over our pop generation. With her ‘much-discussed lips’ Lana appears to thrive on her image of big hair, big lips, big eyes and even bigger vocals. Even calling her persona ‘Lolita in the hood’ or ‘the gangster Nancy Sinatra’. Whether you’re enthralled by her music or the mystery that surrounds it, there’s no doubt that this girl can sing. Born to Die is released on 23 January 2012 and if the internet sensation’s fans remain loyal, she’s set to be around for a while.

The proof’s in the pudding
For the second year running Heston Blumenthal’s luxury Christmas puddings have hit the shelves of Waitrose, for all of about five minutes. The Heston Blumenthal's Hidden Orange Christmas Puddings are already being sold on eBay for up to a whopping £250, so what really is so good about them? I guess the majority of us will never know. However, due to such high demand for the gourmet desserts Waitrose have set to order more; so if you are able to get your hands on one of them at its retail price of £13.99, be sure to let us know.
Stocking thrillers

With less than three weeks now until the big day, hopefully you’ve now brought and wrapped all the presents, put the tree up, made your Christmas pudding (forget Heston) and ordered your turkey? No – didn’t think so. For some of us, there are sometimes other things on our minds than just Christmas. So here’s a few quick gift ideas when you suddenly realise you’re supposed to have your Secret Santa present under the office tree by tomorrow. You can never fail with a mug and these scrabble mugs by Wild & Wolf are just £7 at John Lewis. If it’s a Christmas jumper you’re after this Knitted Xmas Snowman Jumper, £50 from Topshop is sure to be a crowd-pleaser, or try Primark for some cheaper alternatives. And for the awkward person in your life, how about adopting an olive tree for them? Not quite so conventional, but neither are they. They can enjoy the fruits of their individual tree from just £6, at www.nudo-italia.com
